I only read it because shami was an assignment in school. I also liked the way that the author has created charactors with unique personalities e. But because of her religion and the beliefs of her family she isn’t allowed to play.

But because of her religion I chose this book after i watch the film. Pretty much the average pre-teen novel you can find on pretty much every shelve. Bend it like Beckham by Narinder Dhami. Jess narrates the story of her struggle to be herself and still be a part of her Sikh family. I recommend this for anyone who might want to start reading something simple.

Description If you’re 18, love Beckham and can bend a ball like him then the world must be your oyster, right? Other issues might have been delved into more deeply – Jess’s best friend Tony is gay, for example, but this is not explored. We both think that the book is well written and easy to understand. I did really enjoy it though.

I decided to read this book because my teacher gave us the choice of which book we wanted to do for our study book where we had to write an essay on and this book was one I enjoyed this book because i watched the movie first and really enjoyed that.

Of course, as in Allen’s films, here the stereotyping is done by an insider – and only an insider is presumably allowed to send up a group, be it a religious, gender or racial one, with impunity.
