I was shocked at how many parts of the book felt boring. I will fdank the book did have a few memorable scenes and some that I would even consider creepybut I have a hard time with the book receiving five stars from any unbiased reader. The characters changed dramatically.

They’re quiet and they “listen” and then one of them asks a question and she counters with “You’re not listening!!! When I was done with it I thought about giving the book away to a thrift store, but then felt so bad about passing this waste of wood along and subjecting anyone else to the torment, like it was the videotape in ‘The Ring’ or something.

I’ve heard great things about Ted Dekker, and this was my first book by him, and it was a let down.

I’m not just saying that because I disagree with the themes that this story was based on; it was written badly. Worse, they soon realize the killer has purposely lured them to this house. Thanks for telling us about the problem. Word to the wise, don’t read this while home alone or at night. I read Peretti;s books back in the day and did enjoy both of them very much. But God won the battle and it’s up to us to look into the light and believe. I definitely think the book had more details, but that is usually the case. They could have all died and just shortened the book and put me out of my misery.
