The side effect of CrossFit is that you will look better. The primary goal has always been, and should remain, that you need to be fit for life. Greg Glassman drew the analogy himself in the early days of CrossFit when he talked about an old woman picking up a bag of groceries - a deadlift - and this has been reinforced through the years, that CrossFit keeps you vital into your golden years, keeps you out of a nursing home, keeps firefighters charging into the fire, Rangers charging into battleand police charging into a riot zone, all while at the peak of our personal fitness.
We do midline stabilization. What this does, in my humble opinion, is simply reinforce the Photoshop aesthetic-as-ideal, and asserts that fitness is not about health, but about how good you can look in a swimsuit.

Everyone was new at one point so they all know how you feel. If you need assistance or lighter weights so you are able to get through the entire WOD then use it.
What you eat is more important than what you lift. Nutrition affects your energy levels, recovery, and performance. You can do CrossFit for months but if you are eating junk then your results will be junk.
For the first couple of months I would have a granola bar for breakfast before the WODs but after doing some research I heard that oatmeal was better for you.
Once I began eating oatmeal for breakfast I saw a huge difference in my performance and energy levels throughout the workouts. When you are doing CrossFit the quality of your food is more important than anything else. Research different eating plans such as Zone and Paleo and eat like that.
Eat like a caveman. All you really need to consume is lean meat, vegetables, nuts and seeds so cut out the fast food, sugar, and starches. You will have more bruises, blisters, and scrapes than you can count. I am almost positive that my shins will constantly be bruised from some of the Olympic lifts, I will always have a scar from rope burns, and each day the blisters on my hands will get worse.
You will form lasting friendships. You will form friendships and make so many different connections. If you get hurt during a workout, coaches will call and check up on you. No two days are the same. I can guarantee you that no two days will ever be the same. Having both Coach Robs on either side cheering me on and advising me on how to pop up over the bar. Sometimes I think I only do Crossfit, so I can eat pizza guilt free. To do that, I kind of have to be doing this now. The ring muscle up has eluded me for far too long.
Getting one is my biggest fitness goal. She's 17 years old. I wish I did crossfit when I was She's not just an athlete in the gym.

Gilee is on two soccer teams. For her club travel team she plays right defense and for high school varsity she plays center Midfield.
It does't stop there. She plays catcher in softball. She is a very competitive person despite not always showing it.
She is always eager to learn new skills in class. I've helped her out with some skills and drills to work on after class as well. She asks for tips, goes right to work on them and excels.
Whether its the song requests, eagerness to lift the lb sandbag or her fun competitive natural, she brings great energy to our community. Thank you and please continue to be yourself! I have been a member with active life for about a year, I have been doing crossing for six years.
Although, only now I am starting to workout more and focus on skills that I'm weak at. I love the gyms environment, the coaches are always there to help and are always putting smiles on the members faces. Every member is caring and I love how everyone cheers each other on during the WODs. My biggest challenge was in September when I got a severe concussion for about months.
This prevented me from working out because I would get nauseous every time I did a movement. I was nervous to come back in January because I wasn't there physically or mentally. Going into workouts I thought about how hard it was going to be until one day I decided that I needed to go into a workout with a positive attitude because the way you think affects your performance.
My favorite moment was during the Open, I enjoyed seeing the gym come together as a community, cheering each other on and people pushing themselves outside of their comfort zones. I love frozen yogurt especially pomegranate or mango with a bunch of mochi on it, and then I also ask for a cup of mochi on the side because you can never have to much mochi. I also like Dominos thin crust pizza with olives on top, I recommend it.
Go for it, it may seem intimidating but once you start you will fall in love with this sport. Also don't give up because in the beginning it may be difficult but if you keep going you will see and feel the progress that you have made. This is a very difficult question to answer but I went into the summer saying that "I want to become a better version of myself", that meant eating healthy or at least trying to and pushing my body to limits that I did not even know existed, that is what drives me, well at least for now.
Upper body strength and strict movements such as pull-ups, handstand push-ups. But, I'd like to share with you some of the reasons we are highlighting him. This is because he is an extremely humble guy. He's hardworking, selfless, and always looking to help others out.

It sounds sad to say it, but I've been doing this, off and on, since November I imagined that after over 5 years I should be a much better cross fitter.
In a lame defense I have had two back surgeries and a knee surgery in that time period as well, so there was some off time.
And, I guess the coaches too. You guys are okay. LOL But seriously, learning to accept certain things as they are and conquering things that I never thought I could have.
Watching other members and they know who they are get certain movements, such as pull-ups, double unders, muscle ups.
The look on someone's face after they get their first, "whatever" is, always motivates me.

Unfortunately dieting has never been my strong point. Pizza, Taco Bell, tequila, ice cream, I am not sure I have a favorite. If I had to give advice to someone who is starting a fitness program, it's you can't out train a shitty diet. Stop with all the BS reasons. You've been thinking about it! I am my own worst enemy and my biggest motivator. At the end of the day, the person in the mirror is the only one who counts. That's the person you have to make a commitment to. We all want people to keep their commitments to us but unfortunately we very rarely keep our commitments to our selves.
To try and eat better and stay healthy. And if possibly, look like Rob. Moloney or Santoro, either one is fine. She is a successful business owner.
This tells me a few things about her personality. Cariann is a go-getter and hard worker. She loves working with people and helping people. She also loves to learn. This was evident when she happen to be the only athlete in the 7am fitness class for two consecutive Wednesdays. I love one on one coaching. When I get that reaction from an athlete, I get even more excited to coach. Those classes solidified that fact that Cariann is in fact our June Athlete of the Month. Truthfully, if it wasn't for Coach Anita's enthusiasm and encouragement I would have probably given up after day one. I came home from my first class and told my husband "I can't believe people want to work out this hard! My favorite thing about the gym is of course the obvious, great coaching, knowledgeable doctors, all the friendships I've made and the support other members show me.
If I had to choose one thing, I'd say my favorite thing about the gym is the social aspect of it. I think the biggest challenge I have overcome was my own mindset that "I can't do this". I have never been athletic in my life. I was the girl picked last in gym, so I'd say biggest challenge for me was having confidence about what I am capable of doing. Coach Rob said to me recently "you're stronger than you think you are". Hearing that was so encouraging, but sometimes I have a hard time wrapping my head around it.
Considering I continue to show up day after day, tells me that I have somewhat overcome my fear of "not being able" to do Crossfit. There are so many, but I'd have to say first experience doing the Open in April. My husband Andrew, Jen B and Randi stayed after class to cheer me on and support me.
They encouraged me to keep going and I was surprised that I pushed myself as hard as I did. I didn't realize Jen took video, she sent it to me afterwards.
As crazy as it sounds, it was the first time I ever saw myself actually doing something competitive and athletic and it boosted my confidence greatly. It was definitely a turning point for me. Julie said, "I think those Open gave you the eye of the tiger. I sent the video to a friend, and she said oh wow, that's so nice look at your husband standing by your side watching so closely!
Yes, he was very supportive, but what she didn't know is that he was intently watching so he could "no rep" me. Pizza, French fries, bagels and wine.
Don't be intimidated by the intensity because you can scale everything to meet your capabilities. It will transform your body like no other workouts out there. It will change your definition of being fit and oh, prepare yourself to never want to do Pilates again. The patients in my practice drive me tremendously. I'm a chiropractor, acupuncturist and massage therapist. I see people suffering in pain with injuries and my goal is to help them more than just with my skills in practice.
I want to lead by example to help them live their best life.
